About the event
Architectural Historian and Trustee of Historic Norfolk Richard. Halsey and Patricia Forero-Senior Conservation Architect present the first Historic Norfolk Annual Lecture. Together they will look to the past and future of the chapel.
Richard Halsey was able to take a close look at the fabric of the building during its restoration in 2023. This has confirmed that much more was done to convert the medieval chapel for civic and school use in the 1540s than was previously thought. It must also have been damaged in the 1615 Great Fire as dendochronology dates the roof to that time, so this building's history needs rewriting.
Patricia Forero-Senior was the architect overseeing the restoration of this climate adaptation trailblazing project backed by Historic England. She will explain how recent repairs enhance sustainability and ensure continuous use and the next phase of development.
All proceeds will go to support Phase 2 of the Becket's Chapel Net Zero-inspired project.
