Weddings and Receptions at
Becket’s Chapel
Becket’s Chapel is a restored Grade I listed building in the centre of Wymondham. The chapel provides a distinctive and atmospheric space for wedding ceremonies, civil partnerships, vow renewals or a wedding reception after a marriage service in Wymondham Abbey or elsewhere.
With its timber roof, leaded windows and historic character, the building offers a calm and elegant environment for couples seeking a ceremony in a unique heritage setting.
Whether you are planning an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, Becket’s Chapel offers a flexible and characterful space that can be styled to suit your vision, while respecting the historic fabric of the building.
The chapel also creates a stunning backdrop for your ceremony, reception and wedding photographs.

Celebrant-led ceremonies
Becket’s Chapel is ideal for receptions, celebrant-led weddings, civil partnership ceremonies and vow renewals. As the chapel is not currently licensed for statutory marriages, many couples choose to hold their legal ceremony separately and then celebrate with a personalised ceremony at the chapel, led by a celebrant. This allows you the freedom to design a ceremony that truly reflects your story.
Capacity
-
Up to 100 guests seated
-
Up to 150 guests standing
Drinks receptions and light refreshments
Following your ceremony, the chapel can host a drinks reception, allowing you and your guests to celebrate without leaving the venue. Depending on your plans, other than wedding ceremonies, the space can accommodate:
-
Champagne or drinks receptions
-
Canapés or cold buffet-style catering
-
Tea and coffee service using urns
-
Use of trestle tables for light catering
Chairs can be moved after the ceremony to create an open space for guests to mingle or for catering tables to be arranged. This makes the chapel an efficient and economical option for couples wishing to host both their ceremony and a simple reception in one beautiful historic venue.
Please note that catering facilities are limited, so the space is best suited to cold food, canapés and light refreshments rather than hot catering.
A space to make your own
The chapel provides a versatile blank canvas for your ceremony styling. Within guidelines designed to protect the historic building, couples may arrange decorations, flowers and seating to create a ceremony space that reflects their style.
